fall cleanup

As I ponder the enormous task before me, (cleaning up all the leaves and pine needles that litter my yard...for the third time) I am struck as to why this is my favorite time of year. The days are markedly shorter; the landscape has dramatically changed as everything has become threadbare; and there is a noticeable crispness to the air. I think it is because time seems to have slowed down. Plants are on hold until spring and the lawn is a secondary concern-at least for now. So I think I might be giving myself permission to relax for a few months, weeks, days, or until the next project presents itself.
